The Natural Church Development survey is a tool for assessing the health of the church in eight areas that, based on what is probably the largest global study of church health ever conducted, were demonstrated to have a strong correlation to church growth. Identifying your church's strengths and weaknesses guides you in answering the question, "How can we use our strengths to address our weaknesses?"
The focus of this process is on church health, not numerical growth, but strengthening the least healthy aspects of church life generally leads to numerical growth.
This survey is designed to be used as an annual health checkup for churches. Living Stones uses this survey as a part of every Integrated Planning Consultation and every Church Health Consultation, and we have found it to be extremely valuable to the churches using it.
Our "Starter Package" includes the following elements:
- The NCD survey, consisting of 1 pastor's survey and 30 member surveys
- One copy of Natural Church Development
- One copy of The Implementation Guide to Natural Church Development
- Thirty copies of The ABC's of Natural Church Development, one for each person who takes the survey
- A "Detailed Analysis" of your results–an extensive Excel file that breaks down member responses on a question-by-question basis and graphs them according to national norms
- A one-hour telephone coaching session with your NCD consultant to guide you in interpreting your scores and developing an Action Plan for addressing your minimum factor
Your church can take this survey then seek to apply the findings on your own, or you can use this survey as an entry point for a Church Health Consultation or Integrated Planing Consultation.
